The sand dollar is symbolic of worth, value and valuing one’s Self. It is a living being from the sea.  The sea is representative of the collective unconscious: that which is born out of creativity and great expansiveness.  The sand dollar is so lovely, so delicate, and so fragile that it is easily broken in its original state.  At the same time it is extremely well formed and has survived the tempestuousness and disorder of its environment, the sea, to become this beautiful creature that it is.  Think about it, sand dollars come ashore to be discovered after a storm.

Using your imagination, look at the pattern on the sand dollar. You’ll notice a resemblance to Da Vinci’s “Man. Reflect upon that image and you will understand that we, too, are these wonderful, delicate, natural creatures and that we have to recognize our own sensitivity and delicate nature as we keep moving forward on our journey to authenticity.

When you look closely at the pattern on the front and back of the sand dollar, you’ll see the design looks like five separate pathways: all part of The Authentic Journey.  Notice how the pathways all lead back to the center… leading back to yourSelf.. the center of who you are!

Residing within the sand dollar are five beautiful “doves” which can only be seen once it is broken open. During the course of our lives, there are times when we have to break open.  The moments we break open are the moments we experience freedom and transformation.  That is where the butterfly image in The Authentic Journey Logo  (or doves in the actual sand dollar) comes from. Butterflies or “doves” are symbolic of the infinite possibilities of human growth and potential. Butterflies represent how we transform, our metamorphosis, and freedom… the great movement that happens when you go to the next step on your authentic journey.

The sand dollar represents who we are and what we were born with. This is our shell.  When we can break free from our shell, our restrictions, we can experience ultimate freedom and fly like the doves and the butterflies!  That ultimate freedom is authenticity.

Nature is already at work trying to bring this natural and beautiful sand dollar image out of us, because it’s already there.  We are already beautiful, whole, loving, fantastic, spiritual, authentic human beings who love and share love and find love.  We are simply Divine Beings Having a Human Experience on this planet.. and it can be a fantastic journey!

Who doesn’t love a sand dollar?  They are truly one of nature’s most beautiful mandalas!
